Lo Mein Shrimp Pan Garnished With Scallions On A Wooden Cutting Board

What is shrimp lo mein ?

The difference between Lo Mein and Chow Mein is the noodle. Chow mein noodles are usually fried while lo mein noodles are steamed. Other than that, the dishes are somewhat similar.

We add shrimp because it tastes great, fast and easy to prepare, but of course it can be made in the form of a small chicken or even vegetables!

This recipe is perfect for a hectic dinner, and it only takes about 30 minutes!

This recipe uses egg noodles that you can buy fresh at the grocery store (often found near tofu) or dried. If you don’t have anything on hand, spaghetti will work just fine.

Shrimp use peeled and dehydrated raw shrimp, medium size with tail removed. If using frozen shrimp, pour cold water until it is thawed before adding it to the saucepan.

The mix of fresh VEGGIES coleslaw, paprika and yellow pepper adds some color to this dish! Try zucchini, baby corn, chopped spinach, or mushrooms to mix them up a little!

The sauce is easy to prepare! Soy sauce, hoisin, brown sugar, and sesame oil are mixed with water to make this sweet and salty sauce!

Optional wraps: try chopped peanuts, fresh bean sprouts, chopped basil or cilantro, and sprinkle red pepper flakes! Don’t forget Sambal or Sriracha for a hot kick!
